CSU faculty to strike in January

Faculty‍ Union Announces Strike ⁤for Higher Wages and Improved Conditions

The faculty union for the California State⁣ University system has made an exciting announcement – they are planning to go on strike next month. Their demands include higher wages, more mental health⁤ counselors ‌at schools, and paid⁣ parental leave.

The California Faculty Association (CFA) recently voted to authorize ⁤a strike that will have ‌a‌ significant impact. From⁢ January 22 to January 26, the entire state university system will be shut down. This ⁣follows a previous targeted‍ strike‍ in San Francisco,⁣ Los Angeles, Pomona, and Sacramento.

“Our members ‍refuse to give in to what they know is beneath their‌ worth,” said Charles Toombs, the president of the CFA. ⁣“Unlike‍ management, we are‌ unwilling‌ to be complicit in the harming ⁣of our‌ colleagues, students, and staff. Our commitment to‍ one another is unshakeable.”

The⁢ union is not only ⁤bargaining for increased salaries but also advocating for equity, access, belonging, and the honoring‌ of all student, faculty, and staff identities.⁢ They aim to uplift⁣ and embrace all lived experiences while addressing⁢ long-standing racial, gender, and social ⁢inequities.

The strike will also involve the Teamsters union, which represents staff employees in the university ⁢system.

“The strikes are⁤ dependent on whether our CFA Bargaining Team’s ⁢upcoming‌ meetings with CSU management on January 8, 9,⁤ 11, and 12 will bear fruit,” stated the union in a press release. “They⁣ can, at any time, prevent a strike by offering us a fair contract. If they do not, then we will escalate our job actions to create ‍a more ⁢promising future for all of us.”

Matt has 2 apples‌ and Jenny has 3 apples.‍ Together, they have‌ 5 apples.

How many apples would ‍Matt and Jenny have if they ‍each ⁤shared one apple with each other?

If Matt and⁢ Jenny each share one apple with each other, they would still have the same number of apples ⁤they started with. ‌Therefore, they would still have 2 apples ⁤in total.

If Matt and Jenny combined their apples‌ with Anna, ⁣who has ⁣4 apples, how many⁤ apples would they have in total

If Matt‌ and Jenny combined their ⁤apples with ⁤Anna,⁢ they‌ would have a total⁢ of (4 + Matt’s apples + Jenny’s apples) apples.
