California Bill Seeks To Provide Abortions, Trans Treatment In States Where It’s Banned With New Bill Protecting Doctors

California’s new SB 345 bill seeks to protect doctors who mail abortion medication to women in states that ban the procedure or prohibit the use of the medication. It would also allow the distribution of controversial transgender medications, such as cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers, to women in states that prohibit them.

New legislation would allow patients of doctors in California to get abortion medication or trans medications, regardless of whether the state in which they reside prohibits it. Notably, the bill protects medical providers in California from punishment, but not the out-of-state patients or California doctors who leave the state to provide the care in person.

“California health care practitioners will be able to provide essential reproductive and gender-affirming care that is legal in California, regardless of their patient’s geographic location, knowing that California is doing everything it can to protect them against the draconian laws of other states,” Nancy Skinner (Democratic State Senator), was the author of SB 345.

Skinner claims that SB 345 would allow physicians to “prescribe and dispense medications for abortion and contraception that are safe to patients regardless of where the patient is located,” “provide gender-affirming care and deliver that care regardless of where the patient is located,” “bring suit in California against anyone who interferes with the health care provider’s right to provide care that is legal in California.”

Democrats are represented by the state’s blue-state politicians. Gavin Newsom has promoted California as an abortion destination, since recent legal victories for pro-life, which coincide with a dramatic increase in the Golden State’s population. Newsom also signed a September bill declaring California a sanctuary state for child-genesis surgery.

Critics argue that the law infringes upon states’ rights.

“The arrogance of such a proposal is astounding,” According to Fox News Blaine Conzatti, the Idaho Family Policy Center president, said that “It flaunts the traditional relationship between states and would upend our federal system altogether.”

Most abortions are banned in 13 states. However, many other states have specific requirements regarding the way mifepristone medication is administered. First, mifepristone was allowed to be sent via mail under the Biden administration. They also stopped enforcing a requirement that women must obtain the drug in person at a hospital or clinic during COVID. In January, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), made the change permanent and announced that pharmacies would be allowed to become licensed. “certified” They can also give abortion medication to patients who have a valid prescription. More than half of all abortions in America are performed with Mifepristone, which is used by 54% of Americans.

Many states, including Mississippi and Tennessee, have banned controversial transgender medications and minor surgeries.
