CA Law Requires Schools To Do Free PR For Radical Trans Group
The article discusses a new California law signed by Governor Gavin Newsom that requires public schools, from middle school through college, to include the contact number for the Trevor Project’s LGBTQ+ suicide hotline on student ID cards.this adds to an existing requirement for a general suicide prevention hotline number on all student IDs. The Trevor Project, described as having a radical transgender agenda, provides resources encouraging gender transitioning and operates TrevorSpace, a chatroom for ages 13-24 that has been criticized for facilitating inappropriate content. The article positions this law as part of a broader pattern of California legislation that, according to the author, undermines parental rights and promotes controversial sexual and gender education policies without parental consent. Additional bills mentioned include ones restricting parents’ knowledge of their children’s gender identity and allowing minors in foster care to access contraceptives or abortions without adult consent. Under the euphemism of “pupil and student safety,” Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law a requirement that California’s public schools, middle school through college, include the number for the radical Trevor Project’s “LGBTQ+ suicide hotline” on student identification cards.
The existing California law had already required that all student IDs — at public and private institutions — include a general suicide prevention hotline number. In July, the Trump administration terminated a feature where callers on the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline could press the “3” to be connected to a counselor trained for “LGB+ youth services.” Now, California’s law mandates free advertising for the Trevor Project’s radical transgender agenda.
The Trevor Project’s website, targeted at “LGBTQ young people,” tells readers that “if you decide that your current gender or sex just isn’t right for you, you may want to make your gender identity fit with your ideal gender expression and presentation.” It goes on to explain this process “is called transitioning, and can include social (like telling other people about which pronouns you like), legal (like changing your name), or medical (like taking hormones or having surgery).”
The Trevor Project also hosts TrevorSpace, a chatroom advertised for 13-to-24-year-olds. The site claims that the space is moderated, though it has been shown to facilitate sexually graphic conversations and devastating advice for confused minors.
The Trevor Project website also tells users about a feature allowing them to exit the site quickly by pressing the escape key three times, rerouting them to the Google homepage.
This legislative endorsement of the Trevor Project is just the latest advance in California’s continuous attack on children and families. In 2024, Gov. Newsom signed the SAFETY Act to prohibit any measure that would require teachers or school administrators to inform parents of a child’s perceived “sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.”
Another anti-children bill, currently making its way through the California legislature, would allow children of any age in the foster care system to consent to contraceptives or abortions, or receive care following a sexual assault “without the knowledge or consent of any adult.”
