Byron York hints at Trump’s potential to deal a crushing blow to his rivals in Iowa
The ”Worse Case Scenario” for GOP Contenders Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis
The Iowa caucuses are looming, and political analyst Byron York from The Washington Examiner has some insight on what could be a devastating blow for Republican presidential hopefuls Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis.
Appearing on Special Report with Brett Baier, York discussed how both campaigns have recently shifted their focus to attacking front-runner Donald Trump. According to York, Trump’s lead in the race for the Republican nomination is “prohibitive,” and a win in Iowa could further hinder his opponents.
“In the past few days, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley have spent most of their time attacking each other, fighting each other for second place,” York explained. “But the worst case scenario really for the DeSantis and Haley crowd and all the people who want to move on from former President Trump, the worst case scenario is he gets over 50%.”
“That’s a devastating blow to them because they want to be able to say: ‘Well look, a majority of Republicans still didn’t vote for Donald Trump,'” York continued. “If a majority do, they are in pretty bad shape.”
Despite facing federal charges and various indictments, Trump has maintained a significant lead in the polls. The latest Suffolk University Political Research Center poll shows Trump with 54% support from likely Iowa Republican caucus voters, while Haley has 20% and DeSantis has 13%.
The Iowa caucuses will be the first in the nation on Monday, followed by New Hampshire’s primary on Jan. 23. The South Carolina primaries will take place on Feb. 24.
Why is it important to be genuine and authentic when trying to make new friends?
The best way to make new friends is to be open-minded, approachable, and friendly. Here are some tips on how to do that:
1. Be genuine and authentic: People are more likely to be drawn to you if you show your true self. Don’t try to be someone you’re not just to fit in or be liked. Be confident in who you are and let your genuine personality shine through.
2. Smile and make eye contact: A simple smile and eye contact can go a long way in making others feel welcomed and comfortable approaching you. It shows that you’re open to conversation and interested in connecting with others.
3. Show interest in others: People love to talk about themselves and their interests. Ask open-ended questions and actively listen to what others have to say. Showing genuine interest in them and their lives can help build a connection and friendship.
4. Join social groups or clubs: Participating in activities or organizations that align with your interests can be a great way to meet like-minded people. It provides a common ground for conversation and shared experiences.
5. Be proactive: Don’t wait for others to approach you. Take the initiative to introduce yourself and strike up conversations. Be confident and friendly in your approach. Remember that everyone is potentially looking for friendship too.
6. Be a good listener: Being a good listener is an essential skill in building relationships. Show empathy and pay attention to what others are saying. This will make them feel valued and heard, which can deepen your connection with them.
7. Be supportive and offer help: When you see an opportunity to help someone or be supportive, go for it. Small gestures of kindness can leave a lasting impression and create a solid foundation for friendship.
8. Stay positive and enthusiastic: A positive attitude and enthusiasm can be contagious. People are naturally drawn to those who radiate positivity. Avoid negative talk or complaining, as it can be off-putting and drive people away.
Remember that making new friends takes time and effort. Be patient and don’t get discouraged if you don’t immediately find your “best friend.” Good friendships often develop gradually over time.
