Budweiser criticized for ‘offensive’ July 4th message.
Budweiser Faces Backlash Over Fourth of July Ad
Budweiser, the popular beer brand, has come under fire from social media users for a Fourth of July message it posted on Tuesday. The controversy stems from a 30-second ad featuring F-16 pilot Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, who promotes the partnership between Budweiser and his educational scholarship program, Folds of Honor.
In the ad, Rooney states, “Budweiser has believed in Folds of Honor for 13 years. Today, we honor our veterans and the 44,000 scholarships awarded to their families. Service never stops, and neither will we.”
To all who protect America’s freedom, This Bud’s For You.

The tweet from Budweiser read, “To all who protect America’s freedom, This Bud’s For You. This July 4th, we’re proud to work with Folds of Honor to help military families today, and every day.”
However, online commenters were quick to criticize the company, accusing it of using dead soldiers to try to improve its image following a recent controversy involving its partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.
One social media user wrote, “Using dead soldiers to try to dig back from sponsoring child drag shows and misogyny is beyond disgusting.” Another person tweeted, “Too late, Budweiser. Too late.”
Many online users suggested that Budweiser should apologize for its actions. One person wrote, “Don’t understand how Budweiser just doesn’t come forward and apologize to all of us for their huge mistakes and make it right! Maybe they would start selling a few beers. The ad looks great but will not make up for their mess!”
The ad also received criticism on YouTube, with one commenter stating, “No one actually serving, or who probably serves, wants anything to do with this morally bankrupt company.”
It remains to be seen how Budweiser will respond to the backlash and whether it will have a lasting impact on the brand’s reputation.
