Bryan Cranston criticizes Disney CEO and Hollywood’s AI reliance.
Actor Bryan Cranston Slams Hollywood Executives at SAG-AFTRA Rally
In a fiery speech at the SAG-AFTRA “Rock the City For a Fair Contract” rally in Times Square, New York, actor Bryan Cranston didn’t hold back in criticizing Hollywood executives, specifically targeting Disney CEO Bob Iger for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the film and television industries. With actors in Hollywood currently on strike, Cranston took the opportunity to voice his concerns.
Cranston’s speech was a direct response to Iger’s recent comments on CNBC, where he dismissed the demands of actors and writers as unrealistic. Cranston found it ironic that they were gathered in front of an entity run by Disney, and he had a message for Iger: “We will not be having our jobs taken away and given to robots.”
The actor emphasized that they would not allow their right to work and earn a decent living to be taken away, and most importantly, they would not let their dignity be compromised. Cranston’s passionate words resonated with the crowd, as he highlighted the changing landscape of the industry and the need for fair compensation.

Cranston acknowledged that the industry has evolved significantly in recent years, and the traditional economic system no longer aligns with the current reality. He urged Hollywood executives to embrace change rather than clinging to outdated models. The actors and writers refuse to step back in time and will continue fighting for fair treatment.

The contract between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) expired in mid-July, leading to the actors’ strike. SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher condemned the AMPTP, accusing them of greed and attempting to deprive actors of their rightful compensation. Prior to the actors’ strike, writers in Hollywood had already initiated their own strike on May 2.
