Kemp, DeSantis criticize Trump’s COVID ‘tyrant’ comments.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Fires Back at Former President Trump
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp didn’t hold back in his response to former President Donald Trump’s recent remarks about “COVID tyrants.” In a video statement, Trump criticized the left-wing for fearmongering about new variants and hinted at an upcoming election. But Kemp wasn’t having it.
The fact is former president Trump led the opposition to my decision to reopen Georgia – the first state in the country to do so.
While he listened to Fauci & parroted media talking points, I listened to hardworking Georgians.
He may not remember, but I sure as hell do. https://t.co/8eWPidlnfP

Kemp took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to remind Trump that he publicly opposed his decision to reopen Georgia back in April 2020. While Trump relied on Dr. Fauci and media talking points, Kemp listened to the concerns of hardworking Georgians.
The response didn’t end there. The presidential campaign manager for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis chimed in, asserting that Kemp and DeSantis were right while Trump was wrong.
Kemp’s decision to reopen Georgia made headlines, as he led the nation in lifting lockdown measures. This move went against the advice of public health officials like Dr. Fauci, who played a significant role in both the Trump and Biden administrations’ responses to the pandemic.
Trump didn’t hide his disapproval, stating at a White House briefing, “I disagree with him on what he is doing. I think it’s too soon.” He later added, “I was not happy with Brian Kemp. I will tell you that.”
Kemp has become increasingly bold in pushing back against Trump’s statements, including the former president’s claim that the 2020 presidential election in Georgia was “stolen.” Kemp publicly refuted this claim, emphasizing that there is no evidence of fraud and that Georgia’s elections are secure, accessible, and fair.
“The future of our country is at stake in 2024, and that must be our focus,” Kemp declared.
