Former President Donald Trump Faces Additional Charges in Classified Documents Investigation
The Justice Department’s classified documents investigation has taken a new turn as former President Donald Trump finds himself facing additional charges. These allegations of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information were added to the indictment on Thursday by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s team of prosecutors.
Joining Trump and his valet, Walt Nauta, as a third defendant in the classified documents case is Carlos De Oliveira, according to court records in Florida.
Last month, Trump and Nauta were charged with conspiring to hide classified documents at Trump’s Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, from government investigators who were demanding their return. Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
