Bongino says he found FBI room with hidden Comey-era evidence
Dan Bongino, the FBI’s Deputy Director, recently disclosed that evidence from former FBI Director James Comey’s tenure was found in a previously unmentioned room. Bongino described this room as “hidden” from both him and FBI Director Kash Patel when thay took over the agency. He expressed his eagerness too declassify the facts, noting that it was improperly stored and not processed through standard procedures. bongino criticized Comey for his previous conduct and suggested that the information revealed would surprise the public. He also addressed concerns that neither he nor Patel had acted decisively within the agency, asserting that they were working diligently and that certain investigative processes require time. Additionally, both Bongino and Patel have emphasized the need to carefully manage ongoing investigations, such as those pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein.
Bongino says he found FBI room with hidden Comey-era evidence
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino revealed on Thursday that evidence from former FBI Director James Comey’s time at the agency was found, which he said was in a room “hidden from us.”
Bongino rebuked Comey while describing what the agency found, saying, “Wait till you read this stuff.” The deputy director noted that the room containing the information was “not mentioned” to him or FBI Director Kash Patel when taking over the agency.
“I wouldn’t call it hidden, but hidden from us at least and not mentioned to us, and then we found stuff in there and a lot of it’s from the Comey-era, and we are working our damndest right now to declassify,” Bongino said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends. “And just so you know, because I get the public, I totally understand people saying, ‘Well, do it now.’ The process is [that] not all information is ours to declassify; some is other intelligence agencies, it’s not– we literally can’t do it. Once that gets done and that gets out there, and you read some of the stuff, we found that, by the way, was not processed through the normal procedure, digitizing it, putting it in FBI records. We found it in bags hiding under Jim Comey’s FBI, and you’re going to be stunned!”
Bongino also directed specific criticism toward Comey, calling him “a disgrace to the badge” and “a big child” regarding his social media post earlier this month that shared a photo of seashells on the beach organized to read “8647.” Multiple officials in the Trump administration have deemed it a threat to President Donald Trump. Since Comey’s social media post, Bongino said the FBI has “wasted countless man hours” running out the agency’s tip line of people posting “8647” messages.
Amid the agency’s work, Bongino pushed back against anyone claiming neither he nor Patel has taken action in the agency, suggesting these claims may be attempting to “breed mistrust.” He added that the FBI cannot simply “advertise” what it is working on, ranging from the 2023 discovery of cocaine in the White House to the release of a new video on Jeffrey Epstein just before he died in 2019.
“Just wait for the results,” Bongino said. “That’s all I’m asking.”

Patel also said he would not rush the agency’s investigation into Epstein, suggesting “it takes time to go through years of investigations.” He also reiterated his belief that Epstein killed himself.
Attorney General Pam Bondi released a “first phase” of Epstein files in late February, though it contained very little new information. She and other lawmakers have since pressed Patel and the FBI to deliver “the full and complete Epstein files.”
