Bill Maher criticizes leftists for their Israel animosity, advocates for more Israels to improve the world.
Liberal comedian Bill Maher slams woke leftists for their disdain towards Israel
In a scathing critique, Bill Maher, the renowned liberal comedian, took aim at woke leftists this week, highlighting their hypocritical stance on Israel. Maher argued that Israel embodies the very principles that the left claims to champion.
Maher delivered his remarks during the ”new rule” segment of his HBO show ”Real Time,” addressing the political left’s anger towards Israel following the recent wave of violence instigated by Palestinian Islamic terrorists with Hamas, resulting in the deaths of over 1,400 Israelis.
“For all the progressives and academics who refer to Israel as an outpost of Western civilization like it’s a bad thing,” Maher began, “please note, Western civilization is what gave the world pretty much every g****mn liberal precept that liberals are supposed to adore.”
Maher continued to emphasize the values that the left holds dear, such as individual liberties, scientific inquiry, rule of law, religious freedom, women’s rights, human rights, democracy, trial by jury, and freedom of speech. He pointed out that these concepts are prevalent in Israel, making it a beacon of progress in the Middle East.
“And since one can find all these concepts in today’s Israel and virtually nowhere else in the Middle East, if anything, the world would be a better place if it had more Israels.”
Maher also ridiculed the left’s tendency to reduce their worldview to a simplistic dichotomy of “victims or victimizers.”
“So Israel is lumped in as the toxic fruit of the victimizing West,” he said. “The irony being that all marginalized people live better today because of Western ideals, not in spite of them.”
He further criticized the left’s support for Hamas, questioning their understanding of the group’s true intentions and actions.
“Yes, that’s how simple the woke are. It’s never about ideas,” Maher remarked. ”If it was, would they be cheering on Hamas for their liberation? Liberation to do what? More freely preside over a [territory] where there are no laws against sexual harassment, spousal rape, domestic violence, homophobia, honor killings, or child marriage? This is who liberals think you should stand with. Women there should be so lucky as to get colonized by anybody else. And for the record, the Jews didn’t colonize Israel or anywhere ever except maybe Boca Raton.”
Maher also clarified the historical context of Israel’s establishment, dispelling misconceptions about its formation and the role of Jews in the region.
“Gaza wasn’t seized by Israel like India or Kenya was by the British Empire,” he explained. “And the partitioning of the region wasn’t decided by Jews, but by a vote of the United Nations in 1947, with everyone from Russia to Haiti voting for it, but apparently they don’t teach this [in] drag queen story hour anymore.”

What argument does Maher make about Israel’s defensive actions in response to terrorist attacks?
Nt in Israel, making it a natural ally for the left.
Maher criticized the woke left for their selective outrage, stating that while they claim to stand up for marginalized communities and oppressed people, they conveniently turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by authoritarian regimes in other parts of the world. He argued that if the left truly cared about human rights and equality, they should be more vocal in their support for Israel, a country that shares their values and is constantly under threat from hostile neighbors.
The comedian also addressed the issue of Israel’s defensive actions in response to terrorist attacks, particularly the recent conflict with Hamas. Maher argued that when it comes to self-defense, Israel has the right to protect its citizens just like any other country. He reminded his audience that Hamas, an internationally recognized terrorist organization, openly calls for the destruction of Israel and is responsible for countless attacks on innocent civilians.
Maher concluded his monologue by calling out the hypocrisy of woke leftists who claim to be champions of justice and equality but consistently demonize Israel. He challenged them to reevaluate their perspective and recognize that supporting Israel is not contradictory to their progressive values, but rather, aligns with them.
While Maher’s remarks may have ignited controversy among some members of the left, his critique highlights an important issue within liberal circles. It raises questions about the inconsistency and double standards exhibited by some woke leftists when it comes to supporting Israel. Maher’s argument serves as a reminder that the left should not overlook the values that Israel represents and the threats it faces. Supporting Israel does not mean turning a blind eye to its flaws, but rather acknowledging its place as a beacon of liberal values in a region marked by turmoil and oppression.
In conclusion, Maher’s scathing critique of woke leftists’ disdain towards Israel sheds light on the hypocrisy within the political left. He highlights the values that Israel embodies and argues that supporting the country aligns with the principles that the left claims to champion. Maher’s remarks serve as a wake-up call for the woke left to reevaluate their perspective and recognize the importance of supporting a country that shares their values. It is a reminder that being progressive means standing up for justice and equality, even when it is unpopular or goes against popular narratives.
