Bill Maher, on his recent “Club random” podcast with actor William H. Macy, acknowledged President Donald Trump’s success during his second term, despite not supporting him personally. The conversation also touched on Maher’s appreciation for pop singer Taylor Swift’s achievements, despite not fully understanding her music. Maher emphasized the importance of respecting success, regardless of personal opinions. Additionally, both Maher and Macy criticized younger generations for what thay see as naive enthusiasm for communism, describing it as a failed and harmful system. Maher argued that capitalism, while imperfect, has been the most effective system in reducing extreme poverty worldwide.
Bill Maher admits Trump’s a success, slams young people embracing communism
Talk show host Bill Maher made several revelations on his most recent “Club Random” podcast,
Including the fact that President Donald Trump has largely been successful in his second term.
Interestingly enough, Maher made the comments during a conversation with his podcast guest, “Fargo” and “Shameless” actor William H. Macy, while talking about Taylor Swift. Maher and Macy discussed music over the year, and then the pop singer, when the talk show host admitted his fondness for her but lamented that he did not understand Swift’s music.
“I think she’s just an admirable human being, and I don’t get the music,” Maher bemoaned. “And that’s all I’ll say.”
He then recognized her successful run as a musician, which led him to pivot to Trump.
“I always say this, you cannot ever deny success,” Maher said. “You just have to give your respect even if it’s not your thing. Have the humility to give it up for enormous success on any level.”
“Trump, not my choice, didn’t vote for him, I can’t deny the success,” Maher added.
“I can’t either,” said Macy. “And he’s the president.”
They then discussed a framed picture hanging on a wall in the studio that featured a list of the 56 insults Trump has called Maher over the years. The president autographed it when the two met in the White House earlier this year.
“Did you give him that, and he signed it for you?” Macy asked.
“Correct,” Maher replied.
“Oh, that’s f****** brilliant,” Macy said enthusiastically.
Earlier in the show, the two discussed their advanced age — Maher is 69 and Macy is 75 — and that today’s youth are “stupid.”
“One of the things I like about getting old is hearing the stupid things my young friends say,” Macy said. “It makes me feel so good.”
“It should, because you’re right,” Maher replied. “Just because something is new doesn’t make it automatically better, which is what they seem to think.”
“You know, a lot of the younger people are all excited about communism,” Maher said. “Well, that’s because you’re dumb and you didn’t study this. It’s not all your fault; they just didn’t teach it to you. But us older people know they tried it and it was a f****** nightmare.”
“A nightmare,” Macy responded. “A murderous nightmare.”

“Communism is a murderous, soul-sucking night[mare],” Maher added. “Even if they didn’t kill you, your soul was just quashed. You couldn’t get ahead. Everything was corrupt because it didn’t conform to human nature. Humans are selfish. Capitalism, with all its problems, is by far the best system, and it has lifted the most people out of poverty than anything.”
“We’ve made amazing progress with what they call extreme poverty, like a dollar a day people,” Maher said. “Like just in the 25 years since this century began, that’s been cut down to like only a few percent, when it was like 15.”
“That’s very big progress,” Maher said.
