New book claims Bill Clinton criticized Hillary’s 2016 campaign in explicit rant

In a vulgar and deprecating comment, former President Bill Clinton expressed his frustration with his wife’s 2016 campaign’s failure to connect with voters, as revealed in a new book.
“Former president Bill Clinton, surveying the landscape and the ham-handed efforts at identity politics, was bereft, lamenting to a longtime friend in the fall of 2016 that Hillary’s campaign ‘could not sell p**** on a troop train,'” author Ryan Grim wrote in “The Squad: AOC and the Hope of a Political Revolution.”
This revelation, reported by Fox News, adds to the narrative presented in the book “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign,” which previously highlighted how Hillary disregarded her husband’s advice.
According to journalist Jonathan Allen, who co-authored “Shattered” with Amie Parnes, Bill Clinton wanted to campaign in places that Hillary’s team deemed unworthy of their attention.
“He thought, these eggheads don’t really know politics. They don’t understand persuasion,” Allen said.
Bill Clinton believed in the power of showing up, even in suburban and rural areas where his wife might not have been expected to win a majority of votes.
However, due to criticism over his role in Hillary’s 2008 campaign loss to Barack Obama, Bill Clinton refrained from imposing his views on her 2016 campaign to avoid being blamed for her defeat once again.
As the 2024 campaign approaches, Hillary Clinton is emerging as a prominent and influential surrogate in President Joe Biden’s re-election effort, according to NBC.
While some see the Clintons as valuable allies for Biden, not everyone agrees. In an Op-Ed for MSNBC, Zeeshan Aleem points out Hillary Clinton’s shortcomings.
“She lost the election not only after having lost millions of Obama voters to Trump — many of them white working-class voters whom Biden partially won back — but also by failing to inspire many of them to vote at all,” Aleem wrote.
As the political landscape evolves, the impact of Bill and Hillary Clinton on future campaigns remains a topic of debate.
