Joe Biden travelled to Louisiana to assess the destruction caused by Hurricane Ida. Biden met with local officials in the town of LaPlace on Friday to see the damages and offer federal aid.

Biden announced he provided the state with $100 million in direct assistance to citizens and promised to support any and all communities until they recovered.

“There’s nothing political about this,” he expressed. “It’s just simply about saving lives and getting people back up and running.”

Hurricane Ida reportedly was the fifth most powerful storm to hit the U.S. and the recovery process could take quite some time.
