President Joe Biden to Commemorate 9/11 Anniversary in⁢ Alaska

The White ‍House announced on Monday ​that President Joe⁣ Biden will be in Alaska to observe the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The commemoration ceremony will be⁤ held at Joint Base ⁣Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage,⁤ where military members, first responders, and their families will‌ gather‍ to pay tribute.

The ceremony will include units from​ the Air Force, Army, Air National Guard, ⁤Air Force Reserves, ‌and others. First Lady ‌Jill Biden will also be present and is ⁤expected to place a wreath at ⁢the ⁣Pentagon Memorial to honor the victims of that tragic day.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will attend a commemoration‍ ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City.

This⁢ year’s commemoration will be​ held in Alaska, ⁤marking a change from the previous three years ⁢when‌ it took place in different locations ⁣for the September 11th anniversary.

President Biden ‌will arrive in Alaska after returning from the G-20 Summit in India and‍ a visit ‍to‍ Vietnam on September 10th.

During the⁤ Vietnam visit, Biden will meet ‍with⁢ General ‌Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong “to discuss ways to further⁣ deepen cooperation between the United States and Vietnam,” White House officials said.

Notably, President Biden ⁤will be the first U.S. president to forgo ‍visiting one ⁢of the crash sites for the 9/11 remembrance ceremony.
