Biden brings Trump criticism and economic agenda to Milwaukee
President Biden Champions Small Businesses in Minority Communities
President Joe Biden brought his reelection tour to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he passionately advocated for his economic policies that are empowering small businesses in minority communities. Speaking at the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce, Biden emphasized the crucial role of black small businesses as “the engines and the glue that hold communities together.”
Biden proudly declared that his policies have led to the largest surge in black business ownership in the past three decades, with a staggering 15 million individuals filing applications to start new small businesses since he took office in 2021. White House officials had initially reported 14 million small business applications over the past three years.
“We’re doing it by building the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top down,” Biden passionately stated. “There’s not much trickle-down happening on my dad’s kitchen table with a top-down economy. But when you strengthen the middle class, the poor have a fighting chance, and the wealthy still thrive. When the middle class prospers, we all prosper. That’s what we call Bidenomics.”
Throughout the year, Biden has centered his reelection campaign around Bidenomics, which encapsulates his economic priorities. However, he has recently shifted his focus to his likely Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, and continued to criticize him during his speech.
Biden characterized his policies as “a fundamental departure from the trickle-down economics that my predecessor championed.”
“This is the guy who believes we’re contaminating the blood of Americans these days. He slashed taxes for the wealthy and big corporations, outsourced well-paying jobs, and reduced public investment in infrastructure,” Biden remarked, referring to Trump’s recent comments on immigrants. “Decades of discrimination and trickle-down economics have left communities like this one behind. But today, we’re ensuring that Milwaukee is making a full and robust comeback.”
According to White House officials, Biden’s policies have resulted in a doubling of black business ownership compared to the levels during the Trump administration, with a remarkable 70% increase in Milwaukee alone.
“Unfortunately, extreme Republicans in Congress have repeatedly attempted to dismantle the President’s small business agenda, with every single Republican, including Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, voting against the American Rescue Plan,” senior administration officials expressed their disappointment on Tuesday.
Despite Biden’s strong focus on the economy, his approval ratings among American voters remain consistently low.
As of Wednesday, Biden’s economic approval rating stands at 37% in the RealClearPolitics polling aggregate, nearly four points lower than his overall approval rating.

Benefit too, and that’s when you see real progress in our communities.”
President Biden’s commitment to supporting small businesses in minority communities is evident through his policies and initiatives. One of the key measures is the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) targeted support to minority-owned businesses. The SBA has increased access to capital and resources for minority entrepreneurs, providing them with the necessary tools to succeed in the competitive market.
Additionally, President Biden has proposed significant investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, which will create a favorable environment for small businesses to thrive. By improving transportation systems, expanding broadband access, and modernizing schools, the administration aims to enhance the infrastructure that supports small businesses.
Furthermore, the Biden administration is dedicated to tackling systemic inequalities that hinder opportunities for minority-owned businesses. President Biden signed an executive order promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the federal government and its contractors. This step ensures that minority-owned businesses have fair access to government contracts and procurement opportunities.
President Biden also highlighted the importance of investing in education and workforce development to equip individuals with the skills needed to succeed in the modern economy. By expanding access to affordable education and workforce training programs, the administration aims to create a pipeline of diverse talent that can drive innovation and growth in small businesses.
The President’s visit to the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce served as a platform to inspire and encourage entrepreneurs in minority communities. Biden shared success stories of small business owners who have thrived under his administration’s policies, showcasing the tangible impact of these initiatives.
However, President Biden acknowledges that there is still work to be done. Despite the progress made, systemic inequalities persist, and the administration remains committed to addressing them. President Biden stated, “We can’t rest until every entrepreneur, regardless of their background or zip code, has the same chance to succeed.”
