Biden approved COVID origins declassification by June 18, but failed to follow through.

President Joe Biden has failed to comply with the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023, despite it being a measure that passed Congress unanimously and was signed into law by Biden himself in late March.

The law required Biden to declassify any and all information regarding the connection between a Wuhan-based laboratory and the origins of the novel coronavirus by June 18. However, the White House has remained silent on the matter, even after the deadline has passed. This has prompted several Republicans to remind Biden of the approaching and missed deadline on social media.

Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tweeted, “Sunday is the deadline for the Biden Administration to declassify the origins of COVID.”

Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) also emphasized the importance of Biden following the law he signed, stating, “The truth is coming out. President Biden must follow the law that he signed in March and declassify all COVID origins and lab leak intel. The deadline is this weekend.”

Speculation arose when the deadline passed, suggesting that the Biden administration intentionally ignored it to avoid any disruption to Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s conversations with Chinese officials, including a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer questioned the timing of missing the deadline, suggesting that it was peculiar to do so just before Blinken’s meeting with Xi. Senator Braun also dismissed the legitimacy of using Blinken’s trip to China as an excuse for missing the deadline, emphasizing that the American people deserve to know the truth.

“The White House is now overdue to declassify their COVID lab leak intel, and there is no ‘Secretary of State is meeting with Xi Jinping’ exception in the law President Biden signed. We need to know the truth about how this pandemic started and China’s role in covering it up, and the White House must respect the text of the law passed unanimously in both chambers by the people’s representatives,” Braun stated.

Senator Josh Hawley added, “This isn’t optional. It’s the law. Release the intelligence now.”
