Biden’s Plan to Phase Out Gasoline Cars in the U.S. is Confirmed
President Joe Biden’s Controversial Move to Push Electric Vehicles
President Joe Biden has finalized the most extreme push in history to disrupt the gas-powered car industry and steer consumers towards what will essentially become government-mandated electric vehicles.
The New York Times claimed last month that the administration was going to back off its push to force consumers to only purchase EVs, citing a decline in EV demand in recent years.
Despite initial hesitance, the administration succumbed to pressure from far-Left environmentalist groups and activists, leading to the most assertive move ever to phase out combustion engine vehicles.
The Environmental Impact and Controversy Surrounding the Decision
The Washington Post, labeling the effort as “controversial,” noted that this rule aims to push automakers to boost electric vehicle sales while reducing carbon emissions from gasoline-powered models.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defended its national pollution standard, projecting 7 billion tons of carbon emissions saved annually, equating to $100 billion in benefits for the U.S., despite potential legal challenges that may arise.
Backlash and Criticism from Various Quarters
The announcement triggered a swift online backlash, particularly from the political Right, warning of negative repercussions on the American auto industry.
“Biden’s extreme climate agenda will crush America’s auto industry and its hard workers while making us MORE dependent on China,” warned Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick. He pointed out the paradox of increasing global emissions through restrictions on LNG exports and sourcing lithium from Chinese mines for batteries.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) criticized the move, stating, “Biden’s latest ban on gas-powered vehicles and the introduction of electric vehicles is a direct assault on consumer choice and the American way of life. It dismisses the needs of American families to cater to the radical environmental faction, jeopardizing millions of automotive industry jobs. The regulatory excess must end.”
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) denounced the agenda as “restrictive and unnecessary,” advocating for Americans’ right to choose vehicles that suit their needs best.
