Biden stands firm on campaign ad with Greene, playfully highlights her support.
President Biden Jokes About Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Endorsement
During his visit to Philadelphia, President Joe Biden took a lighthearted approach to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s endorsement of him. In a campaign ad that gained significant views, Biden cleverly used Greene’s comments, initially meant to be derogatory, to highlight his administration’s accomplishments.
As he addressed the crowd, Biden referenced the campaign video, saying, “As you may have seen, apparently 40 million people watched, Marjorie Taylor Greene, the very conservative gentlelady from the state of Georgia, said Biden is doing things like Roosevelt. And, it goes down the line, and created these jobs and he thinks that — I thought that was, I never had an endorsement from her before.”
Greene’s Attempted Impeachment
Despite Greene’s endorsement, she is currently in the process of attempting to impeach President Biden. However, her efforts were undercut by Rep. Lauren Boebert, who introduced a privileged resolution to force a vote on impeaching Biden on high crimes and misdemeanors. This resolution included the same accusations as Greene’s impeachment attempt. Boebert’s motion was filed within a resolution to investigate the conduct of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, causing a delay in the impeachment vote.
In a speech at Turning Point USA, Greene praised Biden’s investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs, stating that he is continuing the work started by FDR and expanded on by LBJ. She highlighted programs addressing education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, and labor unions, emphasizing that Biden is still actively working on these issues.
Greene later tweeted a longer version of her speech, expressing her concerns about Biden’s approach to socialism and the country’s increasing debt, homelessness, and inflation.
Biden’s Reelection Campaign
In his bid for reelection in 2024, President Biden is facing Democratic opponents Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an environmental lawyer, and author Marianne Williamson. On the Republican side, there are a dozen candidates vying for their party’s nomination to challenge Biden.
