Biden strengthens campaign fundraising team after successful second quarter.

President Joe ⁢Biden Bolsters Fundraising Team with Former DNC Officials

President Joe Biden is ramping up ⁣his reelection campaign fundraising efforts by adding three former Democratic National Committee (DNC) ⁤officials to his team. This move comes⁤ just weeks after Biden announced a strong fundraising haul in the second quarter.

Biden, along with the DNC and ⁣their joint committees, raised an impressive $72 million in the ⁣first 10 weeks of his campaign. This ‍is the highest total for any candidate in the 2024⁣ cycle. Colleen ‍Coffey, Michael Pratt, and Jessica Porter, the three staffers joining the campaign, played a crucial role in⁤ achieving this⁢ milestone, according⁢ to Biden campaign manager‌ Julie Chavez Rodriguez.

“Colleen, Michael, and Jessica ⁣have already been invaluable to our historic fundraising efforts to date, and will be critical to our efforts to build an unparalleled and historic fundraising operation to ensure we have the war chest we need to win in November 2024,” she⁣ said.

“These leaders have incomparable expertise that‌ will ensure⁢ we leave no stone‍ unturned to ⁢raise money using innovative tactics that reach supporters where they are. Alongside Rufus Gifford and Chris ⁣Korge, we are⁤ building a powerhouse finance operation that will raise the ‌money we need to win again.”

Pratt, who previously served as the DNC’s finance director, and Coffey, his deputy director, will both join ⁤the Biden team as campaign finance co-directors. Porter,‌ formerly the DNC’s online fundraising director, will serve as Biden’s grassroots fundraising director.

In 2020, Biden raised an impressive $700 million through online and grassroots fundraising, with 70% of the second quarter haul coming from new donors. Porter’s role will be crucial in driving up those online figures, especially among Gen Z voters, a core demographic for‌ Biden.

Biden’s strategic move to strengthen his fundraising team comes at a time when two top Republican presidential hopefuls are facing financial challenges.

Former President Donald Trump, known for his strong support from small donors, raised over $30 million ⁣in ⁢Q2, the highest among Republicans. However, Trump’s PAC currently has only around $4 million cash on hand due to mounting legal fees resulting from three federal indictments.

Meanwhile, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida recently had to downsize his campaign staff by more than 40% due⁣ to budget concerns. DeSantis campaign officials initially cited unexpected travel costs, but they now assure that the two-term governor has‌ the necessary finances and infrastructure to make it through the ⁢general election.
