Biden And Staffers Disagree Yet Again, This Time About Judge Jackson’s Senate Hearings

President Joe Biden is at odds with his own staffers yet again, following comments he made about last week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearings for his Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Biden, fresh off his European trip to meet with NATO allies, told reporters on Monday that he “didn’t get a chance to see any” of the hearings that took up much of last week.
But Biden’s staff said as the hearings were going on that the president had not only watched some portions of the hearings, but he had been “moved” by Judge Jackson’s demeanor under pressure.
“The president watched portions of Judge Jackson’s hearing yesterday and today,” the staffer explained. “He was also moved by the grace and dignity she has shown.”

Given that the president was about to embark on an important trip — and was down at least one staffer after White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that she had tested positive for COVID-19 a second time — it might have been understandable for Biden not to watch much, if any, of the hearings. But for him to give one answer after his staff said the opposite is just one more in a growing list of contradictions and walkbacks coming from the Biden White House. Indeed, in recent days, President Biden appears to be getting almost as much contradiction from within his own administration as he does from his critics.
Biden’s team has been forced to clean up a number of the statements he made during his trip to Europe. There, in the span of just a few days, he suggested that American troops might be headed to Ukraine, that the United States might retaliate with a chemical weapon if Russia used one first, and that he might be ready to support regime change in Russia.
Despite the fact that his surrogates spent the following days rewording and “clarifying” the president’s remarks, Biden claimed that “none of the three [gaffes] occurred.”
As The Daily Wire reported:
Each time, the White House had to issue clarifications after the president’s comments — but on Monday the Commander-in-Chief also appeared to be completely unaware that his team had amended any of those statements, asking Doocy, “What’s getting walked back?”
Doocy asked Biden if he was “worried that other leaders in the world are going to start to doubt that America is ‘back’ if some of these big things that you say on the world stage keep getting walked back?”
“What’s getting walked back?” Biden responded.
“Just in the last couple days … it sounded like you told troops they were going to Ukraine, it sounded like you said it was possible the U.S. would use a chemical weapon, and it sounded like you were calling for regime change in Russia, and we know …” Doocy said before Biden interrupted.
The president interjected, denying that had happened at all, “None of the three occurred.”
