The Biden administration has reportedly been gearing up to issue guidance on a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. According to reports, the FDA was expected to make the announcement in the coming month, which would advise people with weakened immune systems to receive a third shot.
The CDC director said the agency would use evidence, such as immune responses and vaccine effectiveness, to come to a decision on booster shots. Pfizer has already sought authorization for a booster shot, while Moderna said it expected people would need a third shot by fall.
