Bernie Sanders calls Netanyahu ‘a disgusting liar’ for denying starvation

Senator Bernie Sanders strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for denying reports of starvation in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Sanders called Netanyahu “a disgusting liar” during an appearance on CNN, asserting that while Israel has the right to defend itself from Hamas attacks, its prolonged military operations have caused severe suffering to the Palestinian people. The Israeli government announced a temporary pause in fighting to allow humanitarian aid, including food supplies, into Gaza. Though, Netanyahu insisted there was no starvation, a claim disputed by both Sanders and former President Donald Trump, who acknowledged the existence of severe hunger in the region. The situation has led to deaths from starvation and chaotic scenes at aid distribution centers in Gaza, highlighting the humanitarian crisis unfolding amid the conflict.

Bernie Sanders calls Netanyahu ‘a disgusting liar’ for denying starvation

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for denying reports of starvation in Gaza since Israel’s war against Hamas began.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that as of Sunday morning, fighting would pause in civilian centers and humanitarian corridors to allow Palestinians much-needed food supplies. Israel also began allowing airdrops of food as of Friday.

Just as the aid began flowing in on Sunday, Netanyahu claimed there was no starvation in Gaza. Sanders appeared on CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins Tuesday, accusing Netanyahu of “lying.”

“Of course [Netanyahu is] lying. He is a disgusting liar,” Sanders said.

“Israel had a right to defend itself from the terrible Hamas attack, but I think everybody understands that in the last two and a half years, they have been waging a brutal, horrific, almost unprecedented type of war, not just against Hamas, but against the Palestinian people,” Sanders added.

Even President Donald Trump disagreed with Netanyahu, after Netanyahu claimed it is a “bald-faced lie” that Palestinians are starving in Gaza.

This marked a rare agreement between the Republican president and an independent senator.

TRUMP LAMENTS DONATIONS TO GAZA ARE “GETTING STOLEN BY HAMAS”

“I’m looking for getting people fed. Right now, to me, that’s the No. 1 position because you have a lot of starving people,” Trump said Monday. “We can save a lot of people. That’s real starvation. I see it, and you can’t fake that.”
