Rogan and Musk ridicule MSNBC’s claim that fitness is associated with far-right ideology.

Elon Musk and Joe Rogan Mock MSNBC Columnist’s Bizarre Claim

Elon Musk and Joe Rogan recently joined in the widespread mockery of an MSNBC opinion columnist’s outlandish claim. The columnist, Professor Cynthia Miller-Idriss of American University in Washington, D.C., suggested that physical fitness is an evil trick used by white supremacists to recruit supporters. The claim, which even referenced Adolph Hitler, was met with ridicule from Musk and Rogan.

Musk and Rogan Respond

Elon Musk took to Twitter to express his disbelief, stating, “MSNBC thinks you’re a Nazi if you work out lmaooo. Parody & reality are becoming indistinguishable.” Joe Rogan echoed Musk’s sentiment, exclaiming, “Being healthy is ‘far right.’ Holy f***.”

The Intersection of Extremism and Fitness

Miller-Idriss claimed that the far-right movement uses health tips and strategies for positive physical changes to lure new recruits. She argued that physical fitness training, particularly in combat sports, appeals to the far right due to its association with masculinity, strength, and competition. She also suggested that it is championed as a tool to prepare for a supposed “coming race war” and the street battles that may precede it.

Twitter Users React

Other Twitter users were equally incredulous at the claim, with one user stating, “MSNBC fears fitness, homeschooling, parental rights, and religious liberty.” Another user dismissed the claim as an insane conspiracy theory.

Previous Controversial Claims

This is not the first time Miller-Idriss has made controversial claims. In a previous article, she linked homeschooling to far-right movements, suggesting that some homeschooling curriculum is designed to teach white supremacy. She argued that Germany does not allow homeschooling because they believe the state has an obligation to teach democratic citizenship and reject extremist ideologies.
