DC’s ‘Blue Beetle’ dethrones ‘Barbie’ at the box office.

Barbie was dethroned of ​its number‍ one spot at the​ box office by‌ the new movie Blue Beetle from⁤ DC.

Barbie had been the‌ number one movie for five ⁢weeks ‍in a row​ until ⁢ Blue Beetle took the lead this past ​weekend.

This weekend the new⁤ superhero movie made $25.4 million, while Barbie dropped to $21.5 million.

Blue Beetle follows a⁢ recent college grad who returns home⁤ full of⁤ aspirations for his future,‌ only to find that home is not quite as he left it. It ⁣is said that as the grad, Jaime Reyes, searches ​to find‌ his purpose in the world. Fate intervenes⁣ when he unexpectedly​ finds himself in ⁤possession of an‌ ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. This is said to “forever change his⁤ destiny as he⁤ becomes ⁣the superhero⁣ Blue Beetle.”

Barbie had​ become a box office sensation. The‌ film has grossed​ several times its budget thanks to positive reviews.

The ‘Barbenheimer’ craze circulating the internet, which ​is people who watch both Barbie and‌ Oppenheimer on the same day, also helped ⁤with increasing sales.

Barbie surpassed ⁤$1 billion in​ global sales more than a week ago. The film’s running total in the United States is⁤ $567 million, making it one‍ of the most successful films of‍ 2023.

Reportedly, Barbie is still said to most‍ likely make a comeback this weekend taking back its number one‍ spot.
