Author Pushes To Cancel Joe Rogan For Quoting N-Word. Then Someone Looks Up Use Of N-Word In His Books.

Bestselling author Don Winslow has been participating in a pressure campaign to cancel popular podcast host Joe Rogan, honing-in on Rogan’s use of the N-word in past podcast episodes, wherein the host was often quoting others or speaking about the word generally.

In fact, it was Winslow’s tweet to Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a “The Rock,” that seemed to spark the actor to publicly pull his support for Rogan.

Dear [The Rock], You’re a hero to many people and using your platform to defend Joe Rogan, a guy that used and laughed about using the N word dozens of times, is a terrible use of your power,” Winslow tweeted at Johnson. “Have you actually listened to this man’s many racist statements about Black people?”

Johnson responded, “Dear [Don Winslow], Thank you so much for this I hear you as well as everyone here 100%. I was not aware of his N word use prior to my comments, but now I’ve become educated to his complete narrative.”

“Learning moment for me,” the former WWE star added. “Mahalo, brother and have a great & productive weekend. DJ.”

But things took a turn for Winslow over the weekend, when detractors looked through some of the author’s own books, which are rife with the N-word.

So, [Don Winslow] tried to get [Joe Rogan] cancelled for saying the N-word,” Twitter account @wokal_distance posted. “It turns out that in his books Don Winslow has used the n-word a lot… and I mean a **LOT**. So here is a **VERY** long thread of times Don Winslow has used the N-word in his books.”

The thread goes on to highlight 57 uses of the N-word within numerous Winslow books.

Of course, both Rogan and Winslow were not hurling “racial slurs”; Rogan was quoting others and talking about the word, and Winslow was writing fiction. The former use was highlighted due to Winslow’s ostensible outrage toward Rogan when the author used the word, as well.

Rogan posted a video to social media early Saturday morning addressing the controversy.

At the start of the post, Rogan said he had seen a video compilation of him using the word, which he said was “out of context,” adding that this was one of the “most regretful and shameful things I’ve ever had to talk about.”

There’s been a lot of s*** from the old episodes of the podcast that I wish I hadn’t said, or had said differently. This is my take on the worst of it,” the Instagram post is captioned.

The host said he was “never calling anyone the word,” but “just saying it out loud.”

“I never used it to be racist, because I’m not racist,” the 54-year-old continued. “But whenever you’re in a situation where you have to say, ‘I’m not racist,’ you f***ed up. And I clearly have f***ed up.”

“Hopefully some of you will accept this and understand where I’m coming from,” Rogan closed the video. “My apologies and much love — my sincere, deepest apologies.”
