Australian Woman Criticizes American Flag, Governor Abbott Responds
In a TikTok video that has sparked controversy, a woman from Australia expressed her disdain for the abundance of American flags in the United States. Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott wasted no time in firing back with a succinct four-word response.
Australian girl doesn’t like that there are so many American flags in America:
There are too many American flags. Like they’re on houses, they’re on cars… I think I can draw the American flag from memory. The only time I think I’ve ever seen an Australian flag is on the… pic.twitter.com/XFk9pWxltB

The woman boldly declared, “I’m just gonna say it; there are too many American flags. Like they’re on houses; they’re on cars; saw them on couch cushions. Like I don’t know who’s making these American flags, but they’d be making a bloody fortune, and like, you’re the only country I know that does this, like.”
She continued, “The only time I think I’ve ever seen an Australian flag is on the Harbour Bridge,” referring to the iconic bridge in Sydney, Australia. “Could not tell you what it looks like. Like, I know what it’s like, blue, and it’s got some stars on it, but I think I could draw the American flag from memory, like I think I can make a bloody sculpture out of it. That’s how many times I’ve seen it. It’s enough.”
The video quickly caught the attention of Governor Abbott, who responded with a sharp retort: “Go back to Australia.”
Go back to Australia.

The debate over the American flag’s prevalence in the United States has been ongoing. According to the Flag Manufacturers Association of America (FMAA), 94% of American flags are manufactured in the U.S. The FMAA also ensures that flags with their “Certified Made in the U.S.A.” seal have been produced using domestic materials and labor.
In a move to further support American flag manufacturing, Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz joined forces with several representatives to introduce legislation requiring all American flags displayed on federal property or obtained by federal agencies to be entirely made in the United States from American materials.
Cruz emphasized the importance of producing flags in the United States, stating, “The American flag is a symbol of freedom and hope for Texans, Americans, and the world. We should be making our flags in the Land of the Free…”
