Ariz. Attorney General Brnovich: DOJ must probe Facebook over posts with instructions how to violate U.S.-Mexico border

Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said the Department of Justice must investigate Facebook for encouraging violations at the U.S. border.

Brnovich sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday, explaining how Facebook is allowing posts that promote illegal entry into the U.S. In addition, Brnovich said Facebook was even providing instructions on how to be successful in crossing illegally.

Brnovich said such actions undermine the rule of law and border security.

“Facebook’s policy of allowing posts promoting human smuggling and illegal entry into the United States to regularly reach its billions of users seriously undermines the rule of law,” Brnovich said in his letter to Garland. “The company is a direct facilitator, and thus exacerbates, the catastrophe occurring at Arizona’s southern border.”

This comes after the tech giant claimed providing migrants with information could reduce their exploitation by human smugglers and cartels. Facebook said its policies were developed “to ensure we were prohibiting content relating to the business of human smuggling but not interfering with people’s ability to exercise their right to seek asylum, which is recognized in international law.”

Although, Brnovich says Facebook is a direct facilitator and contributing to Joe Biden’s border crisis. He has requested a federal probe be conducted.
