AOC Ditched Amazon Workers’ Rally Over ‘Security’ Fears Weeks Before Parading At 600-Person Met Gala

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ditched an Amazon workers’ rally in her home state due to what she and her team said was a hiatus on public appearances and possible “security threats” but she then wore a flashy “tax the rich” dress at the Met Gala, which traditionally boasts some 600 attendees, weeks later.

AOC tweeted in support of Amazon workers’ bid to unionize on Thursday but her celebration was cut short when “Breaking Points” co-host Krystal Ball confronted her with evidence that she lied about postponing public appearances weeks before she attended the high-profile Met Gala.

“Here’s the guy who organized the union drive talking about how you left them high and dry. These are your constituents, and you couldn’t be bothered to show up until they’re on the cusp of victory,” Ball tweeted at the Squad member along with a video interview with Amazon labor organizer Christian Smalls.

In the interview, Smalls explains how AOC “was really excited” to rally for the workers but days before the event, she abruptly canceled over a potential “security threat.”

“They didn’t give me a real answer besides they said it’s a security threat for AOC,” Smalls said on the “Krystal Kyle & Friends” interview. “It didn’t make any sense because they said they canceled all her in-person meetings for the rest of the month but then a couple weeks later she was at the Met Gala.”

“That’s a devastating point,” one of the hosts quipped. “I mean, so you don’t have time to go see the Amazon workers but you have time to wear a ‘tax the rich’ dress while you’re around the richest assh-les in the f-cking country.”

Instead of fessing up to her mistake, AOC doubled down that “the warehouse isn’t in my district” and told Ball “you should look at a map before claiming so.”

“One scheduling conflict aside, we have requested oversight investigations into Amazon, met with Amazon workers in the Woodside warehouses, and more. Hope you do more due diligence next time,” the progressive tweeted.

Another reporter who joined the feud claimed that he was “told by workers that your folks told them at last minute it was a security issue–not a scheduling conflict.”

“Whether ur district or not, you would think a NY Congressman could’ve tweeted support–particularly in final weeks–for one of the most important union drives in U.S,” he noted.

AOC replied that “security was an issue as well” but refused to acknowledge her deception.

“2021 included a lot of high level threats on my life, which limited what activities I was able to do, especially those outside,” the congresswoman wrote. “The combination of that + when we are able to get resources/time to secure them creates scheduling + logistical conflicts.”

Mere weeks after she failed to show up in support of Amazon workers, AOC attended the Met Gala along with hundreds of rich Hollywood elites, where she posed for photo opportunities in a “tax the rich” dress and gave red carpet interviews to multiple outlets including Vogue.
