Ant-Man Actress Evangeline Lilly Speaks Out on Society’s View of Masculinity

Lost and Ant-Man star shares her thoughts on Instagram

While visiting the Siwa Oasis in Egypt, Evangeline Lilly took to Instagram to share her thoughts on society’s view of masculinity and femininity. The actress, known for her roles in Lost and Ant-Man, has a fan base of over two million followers on the platform.

Lilly questioned why society applauds masculinity in women but villainizes it in men, and why femininity in men is praised while it is debased in women. She asked why a man who ant-man-star-evangeline-lilly-laments-society-that-villainizes-masculinity-in-men/” title=”Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man actress, criticizes society for demonizing masculinity in men.”>wears shit-kicker boots and drives a pick-up truck is seen as a villain, but if it were a woman, she would be considered cool. Similarly, why is a man who loves make-up and cries easily seen as valiant, but a woman who does the same is seen as pathetic?

Her followers seemed to agree, as the number of her followers remained steady, with a loss of less than 1%. Lilly reminded her followers to refrain from judging others and to teach grace and charity above all else.

“Grace and charity are cornerstones of a thriving society and should not be abandoned. We need them like we need democracy, justice, and peace. And, without them, we can’t have democracy, justice, or peace,” Lilly wrote.

In her Instagram bio, Lilly left a link to Fight for the Future, a website featuring the “largest online protests in human history.”
