Air Disaster Kills Three Warplane Pilots
In a tragic incident, three pilots lost their lives in a midair collision between two warplanes in western Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
The collision occurred during a combat mission over Ukraine’s western Zhytomyr region. Two L-39 training military aircraft were involved in the incident. Among the pilots killed was Andriy Pilshchykov, a well-known advocate for Ukraine acquiring F-16 fighter jets, who was affectionately known as “Juice.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to Pilshchykov, recognizing his significant contributions to the country. The other two pilots who lost their lives were identified as Viacheslav Minka and Serhiy Prokazin.
Meanwhile, Russian forces targeted central and northern regions of Ukraine with cruise missiles. Ukraine’s air defenses successfully intercepted four of them, but falling debris damaged several homes and injured two people in the Kyiv region.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed to have hit an airfield in the Kyiv region, although Ukrainian officials have not yet responded to this assertion.
In Kyiv, relatives of soldiers captured by Russian forces in Mariupol gathered for a rally, demanding the safe return of their loved ones. In Russia, the Defense Ministry reported shooting down two drones near the border with Ukraine, accusing the ”Kyiv regime” of attempting terrorist attacks on Russian soil.
