Pierce Brosnan, actor, charged with trespassing at Yellowstone hot springs
Actor Pierce Brosnan Cited for Trespassing in Yellowstone National Park
Renowned Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, famous for his roles in James Bond films, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Mamma Mia, recently found himself in hot water during a personal trip to Yellowstone National Park. The 70-year-old actor received two federal citations after allegedly trespassing in an off-limits area at Mammoth Hot Springs on November 1.
During this time of year, most roads leading into Yellowstone are closed for the winter. However, the northeast entrance in Cooke City/Silver Gate, Montana, remained open, providing access to the hot springs situated on the border between Montana and Wyoming.
Mammoth Hot Springs boasts around 50 limestone springs, including the famous Old Faithful Geyser. Visitors can explore these natural wonders by traversing the boardwalks. However, venturing off the designated paths can be perilous due to the scalding water.
The Washington Examiner has reached out to Yellowstone National Park and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Wyoming for further details on the incident.
Previous Trespassing Incidents at Mammoth Hot Springs
This is not the first time individuals have faced consequences for trespassing at Mammoth Hot Springs. In 2019, two men were sentenced to 10 days of incarceration, $540 in restitution, five years of unsupervised probation, and a five-year ban from Yellowstone after pleading guilty to similar charges. U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Carman handed down the sentence at the Yellowstone Justice Center.
Brosnan is scheduled to appear in the park’s court on January 23 to address the citations.

What role did John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, play in popularizing the concept of a sandwich?
Most researchers consider the sandwich to have been invented in the 18th century by John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich. According to popular lore, he would often request his food be served between two slices of bread so that he could continue playing cards without getting his hands dirty. This combination of ingredients became known as a sandwich, and the concept quickly caught on.
However, it is worth noting that the idea of putting food between bread or other types of carbs has likely been around for much longer. Ancient cultures, such as the ancient Egyptians and Romans, were known to eat fillings wrapped in flatbreads or other bread-like materials. So, while the sandwich as we know it today may have been popularized by the Earl of Sandwich, the concept itself has a much longer history.
