Killing innocents in America won’t protect innocents in Israel.
War in Israel has captured the attention of the world, demanding a serious look at how Iranian-backed Hamas was able to launch brutal attacks on innocent civilians, behead babies, and commit heinous acts of rape, torture, and kidnapping against women, children, and the elderly, with the threat of execution if Israel retaliates.
This loss of life, including Americans, is being compared to Israel’s 9/11. The question arises: who is responsible for enabling this tragedy?
Did the up to $80 billion freed up by the Biden administration, along with resources from former President Obama, contribute to funding the atrocities committed by Hamas? Is this violence inherent to the nature of the conflict? While there is plenty of blame to go around, one group being singled out makes no sense at all: Pro-life advocates opposing the military becoming an abortion vendor cannot be blamed for the initial inadequate response to Hamas violence.
MSNBC, in a misguided attempt to explain the attack on Israel, pointed to a lack of support for abortion. They suggested that if only Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., allowed abortion to be included in military spending, everything would be fine. However, Tuberville’s opposition to this move is not the reason for the failure to address Hamas violence effectively. Former CIA and NSA Director Gen. Michael Hayden’s dehumanizing comment about Tuberville only led to the senator alerting Capitol Police.
Political figures like David Frum and Bill Kristol, who have little relevance, joined the chorus calling for abortion spending, as if ending the lives of military family members would somehow improve our ability to combat Hamas or support our allies.
But this political posturing is typical of abortion zealots who want taxpayers to fund abortion tourism.
In a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in March, U.S. senators reminded him that using taxpayer money for abortions is unlawful. Twelve U.S. senators, including Tuberville, wrote:
The policies the Department of Defense announced on February 16, 2023, are a blatant attempt to circumvent numerous federal statutes that distance the military from abortion-related decisions. Namely, it would force taxpayers to subsidize abortions by paying for service members or their dependents to travel to obtain the procedure and by granting additional leave for this purpose. Facilitating a service member’s abortion through this channel violates the spirit of 10 U.S.C. § 1093, which prohibits the Department of Defense from funding elective abortions; it also brazenly departs from the Department of Defense’s historic interpretation of its travel authorities in 37 U.S.C. §§ 452 and 453. These regulations authorize official travel for many activities, but, notably, they say nothing about funding travel to receive an elective abortion. Taking such significant liberties with federal law is a grave matter.
Allocating taxpayer resources for military support is a logical choice. These funds could be used for intelligence gathering or improving soldier salaries to enhance recruitment. Yet, instead, we witness thousands dead and missing, with babies being murdered in their homes. And now, some suggest that more abortion is the solution to stopping Hamas terrorists?
Is that really what they want? Fewer babies alive in America?
To be clear, members of the military are not prohibited from using their own money and time for abortion. Tuberville’s concern lies in the use of taxpayer funds and time. The Biden administration’s social experiment with the military is cause for alarm as the world faces an escalating conflict.
In the U.S., groups like Black Lives Matter, who engage in riots and support Hamas, and protesters in New York City flashing swastikas, along with the terrorists who crossed the open border under Biden’s watch, highlight the need for a strong national defense against those who praise and commit violent acts.
Former speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy warned that a similar tragedy could happen in the U.S. if we don’t wake up.
Blaming Tuberville’s opposition to abortion spending for any lack of readiness is disingenuous. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a staunch proponent of abortion, could bring up military candidates for a vote individually if he truly cared about the issue. The Democrats could also drop their push for abortion spending altogether.
Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff to President-elect Barack Obama, famously said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Perhaps Schumer is following this strategy.
Democrats were unable to fund abortion in the military before, but using this crisis to push a pro-abortion agenda in military spending goes beyond the usual shamelessness of politics.

Is there any evidence or logical connection to support the claim that allowing abortion in military spending would improve the response to Hamas violence?
N to this tragedy. This is a misguided and morally bankrupt argument.
The violence in Israel cannot be solely attributed to the pro-life advocates who oppose the military becoming an abortion vendor. It is astonishing that some media outlets and political figures have chosen to scapegoat this group and blame them for the inadequate response to Hamas violence. This line of thinking is not only illogical but also deeply unjust.
MSNBC’s attempt to link the attack on Israel to a lack of support for abortion is misguided at best. It is absurd to suggest that allowing abortion to be included in military spending would somehow resolve the conflict or improve our ability to combat Hamas. This argument only serves to dehumanize and dismiss the true complexities of the situation.
Political figures like David Frum and Bill Kristol, who have shown little relevance in recent years, have jumped on the abortion bandwagon. They are pushing for taxpayer-funded abortion, as if ending the lives of military family members would magically solve the crisis in Israel. This cynical political posturing is typical of abortion zealots who prioritize their own agenda over the lives and well-being of innocent civilians.
It is worth noting that using taxpayer money for abortions is unlawful. In a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, a group of U.S. senators, including Sen. Tuberville, reminded him of this fact. The senators highlighted that the Department of Defense’s policies to subsidize abortions and facilitate a service member’s abortion through taxpayer-funded travel violate federal statutes. They rightly pointed out that allocating taxpayer resources for abortions contradicts the Department of Defense’s historic interpretation of its travel authorities.
Instead of allocating taxpayer funds for abortions, our resources should be directed towards measures that enhance military support. These funds could be used for intelligence gathering, improving soldier salaries, or implementing initiatives that strengthen recruitment efforts. By doing so, we can better equip our military and protect innocent lives.
Blaming pro-life advocates for the violence in Israel is a dishonest and irresponsible narrative. It diverts attention from the true causes of the conflict and undermines the urgent need for a comprehensive and peaceful resolution. It is time to focus on meaningful solutions, rather than indulging in baseless accusations and political posturing. Lives are at stake, and it is our moral duty to approach this issue with integrity and compassion.
