ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show off the air indefinitely on Wednesday after the host said the “MAGA gang” aimed to score political points from conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Nexstar said Wednesday that its “owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ for the foreseeable future, beginning with tonight’s show.”
Kimmel made the remarks in his Monday night monologue. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel said.
The company added that it “strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.”
It’s unclear what political ideology Kirk’s alleged Killer, Tyler Robinson, identifies with. He expressed hatred for Kirk in texts to his partner, Lance Twiggs.
Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, is considered one of the top late-night shows on television.

It’s unclear if Kimmel’s show is being definitively canceled. Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been on the air since 2003.
The host suggested he was not renewing his contract ahead of the 2026 deadline last year. “I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good,” he added. “That seems like enough.”
