The majority of Americans were reported to believe U.S. troops must remain in Afghanistan until all civilians and Afghan allies have been evacuated. A new poll by ABC News and Ipsos found about 70 percent of U.S. voters said U.S. troops should remain in Afghanistan past the withdrawal deadline of August 31.

Some 84 percent of respondents said U.S. troops must remain until all U.S. civilians left Afghanistan. Joe Biden has been under fire for a chaotic Afghan pullout, which resulted in violence and the deaths of 13 American troops.

Only 28 percent of Americans said U.S. troops should leave Afghanistan regardless of the current situation.
