Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) has fired back at attempted verbal assaults from the White House. On Friday, DeSantis responded to Joe Biden dismissively referring to him as “governor who?”

“Well, I guess I’m not surprised that Biden doesn’t remember me. I guess the question is what else has he forgotten? Biden’s forgotten about the crisis at the southern border, I can tell you that,” said DeSantis. “Biden’s forgotten about the inflation that’s biting the budgets of families all across the country.”

DeSantis’ comments are just the latest in recent days as the White House has been singularly focusing on criticizing the governor.

The Florida governor has refused to institute mask mandates in schools, contravening official Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance. He even threatened to defund public schools that forced masks on their staff and students in the state. This opposition to new restrictions and forced masking has not sat well with the White House.

Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to DeSantis’ comment demanding the federal government stay out of the way of Florida’s parents, stating the pandemic is too serious to be name calling. “We’re focused on providing public health data, information to the people of Florida to make sure they understand what steps they should be taking, even if those are not the steps taken at the top of the leadership of that state,” said Psaki.

When the attacks fell flat, Psaki was asked if parents should have the “kind of power” to decide if their kids should be wearing masks or not. Her response was to imply Gov. DeSantis has been doing nothing more than putting kids in danger in order to play politics.

On top of pressure form Washington, Florida is facing lawsuits over the constitutionality of banning forced masks in schools. Meanwhile, DeSantis supporters have praised the governor for standing firm against supposed health officials who have not been honest and forthcoming with citizens and imposed baseless mandates.
