Bondi announces cash reward for tips leading to arrests in DC during federal takeover

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Wednesday that the U.S. Marshals Service will give a $500 cash reward to anyone who provides a tip leading to an arrest in Washington, D.C., during President Donald Trump’s federal takeover.

“We have now made over 550 arrests in Washington, DC and have taken 76 illegal firearms off the streets—saving lives. You can help— (US Marshals Service) is offering a reward for any information leading to an arrest. Together, we will make DC safe again!” Bondi posted Wednesday on X with a QR code for submitting tips.

The Marshals Service is one of the federal law enforcement agencies that Trump deployed during his crime crackdown earlier this month.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt touted the success of Trump’s takeover at Tuesday’s press briefing. She shared that 52 arrests were made on Monday night, including an alleged MS-13 gang member with convictions for DWI and drug possession.

“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and the outstanding work of both federal and local law enforcement, dangerous gang members like the one picked up last night will not be allowed on the streets of our nation’s capital,” Leavitt said.

Half of the nearly 200 non-immigration-related arrests occurred in the district’s Ward 7 and Ward 8, which are areas associated with high violent crime rates, according to an analysis by the White House.

In a separate Wednesday post on X, Bondi said there were 66 arrests and eight illegal firearms seized on Tuesday.

The DC Police Union, which has supported Trump’s takeover, reported on Monday that crime has decreased. Robberies have decreased 46%, carjackings have decreased 83%, and violent crime has decreased 22%.

“While federal assistance gives us a boost, we must repeal the misguided Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act to make these changes permanent,” the union posted.

The Department of Justice is reportedly investigating whether the district’s Metropolitan Police Department manipulated crime statistics before the takeover.

The Washington Examiner contacted the Marshals Service for comment.
