Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by House GOP allies
The article reports that President Donald Trump has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize by his GOP allies in the House of representatives, notably Reps. Andy Ogles and Marlin Stutzman. They submitted a letter to the Nobel Committee praising TrumpS leadership in reducing global conflict and fostering diplomatic dialog, highlighting achievements such as the Abraham Accords and his recent efforts to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump has recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to negotiate an end to the ongoing war. while discussions included the possibility of U.S. peacekeeping forces in Ukraine, Trump later indicated he would likely not commit American troops there.
Other notable supporters of Trump’s nomination include Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Rep. Buddy Carter, with Netanyahu commending Trump’s ongoing peace efforts.even former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton stated she would nominate trump if he successfully ends the Ukraine conflict without territorial concessions by Ukraine.
Trump himself expressed frustration earlier that the Nobel Committee would likely never award him the prize, despite his belief that he deserves it. The Norwegian Nobel Committee is responsible for deciding the award, with the nomination deadline having closed in january 2024.
Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize by House GOP allies
President Donald Trump’s allies on Capitol Hill are recommending him for an honor he has long sought — a Nobel Peace Prize.
Reps. Andy Ogles (R-TN) and Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) sent a letter to the Nobel Committee to nominate Trump for the prize amid his high-profile talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
“We respectfully submit this nomination of President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his concrete contributions to international fraternity, his leadership in reducing conflict and the risk of war, and his commitment to fostering dialogue as a path toward reconciliation,” the letter reads.
The letter continues, “His decisive leadership in securing landmark diplomatic agreements, de-escalating global conflicts, and actively pursuing peaceful resolutions to some of the world’s most entrenched disputes has led and continues to lead to a more peaceful world.”
Ogles and Stutzman cite several agreements reached under both of Trump’s administrations, including the Abraham Accords, the Washington Agreement, and, more recently, his efforts to broker a deal between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump has met with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the last week as he looks to negotiate an agreement to end the fighting the two countries have been engaged in since 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine.
The 45th and 47th president, after meeting with Putin on Friday in Alaska, said sending a U.S. peacekeeping force to Ukraine could be a possibility during a one-on-one meeting on Monday with Zelensky.
However, Trump appeared to rule out sending United States troops to Ukraine on Tuesday during an interview on Fox & Friends.
“Trump is not a warmonger — he’s a peacemaker,” Ogles said in a post to X on Tuesday. “The world has fewer wars because of Donald Trump’s leadership.”
Trump and his allies have ramped up pressure for the president to receive a Nobel Prize in recent months, with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying last month it was “well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.”
“No President since Ronald Reagan has ever been more successful at creating peace on the international stage than President Trump,” Stutzman said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “The world is safer with Donald Trump as commander in chief of our country. No one is more deserving of this year’s Nobel Prize.”
The president has expressed his displeasure about not receiving the prize, saying earlier this year that the committee would “never give me a Nobel Peace Prize.”
“It’s too bad,” Trump said. “I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”
Other Trump allies, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), have nominated him for the high honor this year.
Netanyahu, who nominated Trump in July, said Trump was “forging peace, as we speak, in one country, in one region after the other,” as he presented his nomination letter to the president during a meeting at the White House.
Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton said last week that if her former rival could end the Ukraine war without forcing the war-torn country to concede some of its land as a concession, she would nominate Trump for the prize herself.
EVERYONE WHO HAS NOMINATED TRUMP FOR THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
“If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize,” Clinton said. “Because my goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin.”
The Norwegian Nobel Committee decides on the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, and the deadline to nominate someone closed in January.
