Ghislaine Maxwell moved to federal prison in Texas
Ghislaine Maxwell has been transferred from a federal prison in Florida, where she was serving a 20-year sentence, to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas. The reason for the move remains unclear, though it occurred after Maxwell spoke with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. Maxwell, a known associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has been involved in ongoing legal and political attention, including a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee for a deposition and efforts by her attorneys to seek a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. Additionally, her legal team has appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn her sex trafficking conviction. The move to the Texas facility is considered an upgrade, as it is indeed a women-only camp with minimum security, compared to the low-security facility in Tallahassee, Florida. The family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers who died by suicide in April 2025, expressed confusion and concern over Maxwell’s prison transfer.

Ghislaine Maxwell has been moved from the federal prison in Florida, where she was serving her 20-year sentence, to a facility in Texas.
It’s unclear why the Jeffrey Epstein associate was moved. The decision came after she spoke with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche last week.
“We can confirm, Ghislaine Maxwell is in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Bryan, Texas,” a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told the Washington Examiner.
Trump administration officials and Congressional leaders have turned to Maxwell as a result of fervor over the DOJ’s decision not to release any more files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena for Maxwell to be deposed on Aug. 11. Maxwell’s attorneys suggested she would consider the deposition in exchange for an advanced look at the questions.
She has also been pressing for a pardon from President Donald Trump, which he has acknowledged he can do. Her lawyers have also appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn her sex trafficking conviction.
David Oscar Markus, a Maxwell attorney, confirmed to USA Today that she has been moved to Texas.
The family of the late Virginia Giuffre expressed concern to USA Today over the move. Giuffre committed suicide in April 2025 and was one of Epstein’s first accusers. She also allegedly associated with Prince Andrew in relation to Epstein while she was underage.

“The family is scrambling right now to figure out what’s going on,” spokeswoman Dini von Mueffling told USA TODAY. “They don’t understand why this is happening.”
The prison move appears to be an upgrade for Maxwell. She’ll go from a low-security Tallahassee facility to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas. Her new facility is solely for women, unlike the prison in Florida.
