President Donald Trump on Thursday revealed the White House will host a special event in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday next July — an Ultimate Fighting Championship fight.
“We’re going to have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,” he announced at an event in Des Moines, Iowa. “We’re going to do that as part of 250.”
Trump said UFC CEO Dana White will be responsible for setting up the fight at the White House, adding he expects the event will attract 20,000 to 25,000 spectators.
“We’re going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events,” the president continued. “But the UFC fight is going to be a big deal.”
White shared Trump’s surprise announcement on his Instagram story, seemingly confirming his involvement in putting on the historic event.
Trump has a long-standing friendship with White, who often invited the president and his allies to UFC matches before and after the 2024 election. Trump has said he is a fan of the UFC.
White openly supported Trump during the 2024 election and spoke at Republican events, including the Republican National Convention last year.

In the meantime, Trump plans to sign what he calls his “big, beautiful bill” on Friday after House Republicans passed the spending legislation to cut taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits. The bill’s passage came ahead of the president’s self-imposed July 4 deadline. Trump is expected to sign the bill in the Oval Office at 5 p.m. on the federal holiday.
