Sean Duffy ‘laser-focused’ on work, brushing off ‘hit piece’ on family

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has responded to a “hit piece” published by teh New york Times, which criticizes his family-oriented approach and various initiatives since taking office. Duffy described the article’s author as “genuinely disturbed” that he has a large family and is focusing on community issues related to marriage and childbirth. He highlighted his commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure, dismissing the article as an irrelevant distraction. Duffy’s eldest daughter, Evita, also defended their family, calling out the journalist for asking personal questions related to their family dynamics. The piece appears to target Duffy’s family life as a potential conflict of interest, but he and his family assert that their connections enrich their public service rather than detract from it.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy rebuked a “hit piece” from the New York Times, suggesting the writer is “genuinely disturbed” that he is married and has a large family.

The piece spotlights various actions Duffy has taken since becoming secretary, such as signing a memo to prioritize transportation funding to communities with higher marriage and birth rates. It also cites comments Duffy made several years ago on his Fox News podcast From the Kitchen Table: The Duffy’s, in which he and his wife encouraged younger listeners to have children.

In reaction, Duffy, a father of nine, highlighted how the article’s author previously covered abortion for the Washington Post, and is currently “cosplaying now as a ‘family’ expert.”

“Let the NYT goof off,” Duffy wrote on X. “I’m laser focused on making transportation great again—modernizing air traffic control, rebuilding bridges, and reviving U.S. commercial shipping through a reinvigorated Merchant Marine Academy. While they obsess over my beautiful family, I’m working for yours.”

Evita Duffy-Alfonso, Duffy’s eldest child, similarly dished criticism against the piece, revealing that one of the “deranged” questions the author asked was whether or not her parents considered aborting her.

“The truth is simple: we’re not a prop, a brand, or some act,” Evita Duffy wrote. “We’re a real, loving, faithful, joyful family — and @CAKitchener is bitter and a creep.”

TRANSPORTATION ENERGY PRICES SKYROCKET OVER WEEKEND

Before the New York Times published its piece against Duffy, Rachel Campos-Duffy, the transportation secretary’s wife and a Fox & Friends Weekend cohost, posted a video of her children learning to dive in a swimming pool, writing, “I love my family.”

Last month, Sean Duffy showcased the Department of Transportation’s Great American Road Trip initiative, highlighting 250 different stops across the country that families can visit during their next road trip. The initiative’s launch is meant to tie into the nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.
