Truth Social, the social media platform, briefly crashed late Saturday evening after President Donald Trump announced earlier that the U.S. had “completed” its attack on three Iranian nuclear sites.
Users of the social media platform, which the president launched in 2022, began complaining about the website being unusable on X.
“Truth Social seems to be down. Anyone else able to get on?” wrote one commentator.
As of 9:09 pm ET, the website was inaccessible to the public, but appeared to start working again around 9:30 pm ET.
Trump announced on Truth Social that he would address the nation about the Iran attacks later on Saturday evening. The decision to attack Iran marks the U.S.’s entrance into the war between Israel and Iran that began over a week ago.
“I will be giving an Address to the Nation at 10:00 p.m., at the White House, regarding our very successful military operation in Iran. This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR. THANK YOU!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
According to a senior White House official, the U.S. gave Israel a heads-up before the strikes were launched. The official also claimed that Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke after the strikes.
Congressional Republicans remained divided over the attacks, with some arguing that the actions were unconstitutional and others backing the president’s decision.
