Hugh Hewitt slams Khamenei as ‘most inept’ world leader
Hugh Hewitt, a radio host, criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyid Ali Khamenei during a live television segment, labeling him as potentially the “most inept” leader of a major power. Hewitt claimed that every decision Khamenei has made has been detrimental to Iran, especially referencing recent Israeli strikes on Iranian oil depots, which Khamenei’s foreign minister accused the U.S. of being involved in. Hewitt asserted that the collaborative efforts of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former President Donald Trump have weakened iran’s position, particularly after the tragic October 7 massacre orchestrated by Hamas leader Yahya sinwar, who has since died. Despite the rising tensions in the region, Hewitt expressed optimism for peace in the Middle East, believing the resolution of the Iranian nuclear threat could lead to stronger relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors, and also a stable future for Palestine.
Hugh Hewitt slams Khamenei as ‘most inept’ world leader amid conflict
Radio host Hugh Hewitt blasted Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyid Ali Khamenei on live television Tuesday because “every decision he’s made has been bad.”
Iran suffered strikes on two of its oil depots in Tehran on Saturday and its Iranian Defense Ministry Headquarters. While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took credit for the strikes, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi alleged on state TV that he had proof that the United States was involved. Hewitt appeared on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom to also suggest that President Donald Trump “greenlit” the strikes, but it was Khamenei’s strategy that was “in ruins.”
“Those two men, Netanyahu and Trump, have arranged for Iran to feel jolts of the sort they have never felt before and I think the Ayatollah Khamenei may be the most inept and erratic fanatic to ever run a major power — it’s not a nuclear power but it’s a major power,” Hewitt said. “And every decision he has made has been bad. His entire strategy, built up over 30 years to surround Israel, is in ruins. Because Sinwar went early on [Oct. 7] with that horrific massacre, and Israel has methodically reduced all the threats, and now they’re gonna reduce the threat from Iran.”
Hewitt was referring to the late Yahya Sinwar, who led the terrorist group Hamas until his death last October. Sinwar orchestrated the invasion into southern Israel that resulted in the deaths of 1,200 on Oct. 7. Another 250 hostages were taken by Hamas, but the majority have been confirmed dead or returned. Approximately 53 remain unaccounted for.
Despite rising tensions, Hewitt predicted peace on the horizon for the Middle East.
“I think that the Middle East is going to have an era of peace once the Iranian nuclear threat and their proxies are destroyed. I think the Abraham Accords are gonna grow fast and strong. Israel is going to be at the centerpiece of a relationship with many of its Arab and Muslim neighbors,” Hewitt said. There’s gonna be peace in Palestine. I believe the president is genuinely committed to that. He started the Abraham Accords in term one.”
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump called for all Iranians to “immediately evacuate” Tehran.
