Michael Moore wrote a new Pledge of Allegiance ‘to the people’ despite ‘MAGA-heads’
Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore created a new Pledge of Allegiance for the country.
The Michael Moore in Trumpland and Bowling for Columbine documentarian posted his proposed new pledge to his Substack on Monday. Moore’s version ditched many of the ideals in the original and instead focused on democracy.
Moore said he wrote the new pledge “in spite of its MAGA-heads” and “to end the madness and create a true Democracy for which it stands.”
“I pledge allegiance to the people of the United States of America. And to the democracy for which we all stand: One person, one vote, one nation, part of one world, everyone! A seat at the table! Everyone! A slice of the pie! With liberty and justice, equality, and kindness and the pursuit of happiness for all.”
Noticeable differences between Moore’s version and the actual Pledge include several omissions of allegiances by the filmmaker, including the “flag of the United States of America,” “the republic for which it stands,” and “one nation under God.”
Moore then asked his Substack viewers to take action and protest. He highlighted one group by posting a video of people who “dressed up alike, printed some signs, and marched through Lexington effing Kentucky to warn people of the current fascist threat.”
Moore then recommended other forms of activism, such as writing or calling members of Congress and joining a “local organizing group.”
“One. Simple. Action,” Moore said. “Today. Tomorrow. Together.”
