DNC to vote in June on whether to replace David Hogg – Washington Examiner
The Democratic National Commitee (DNC) plans to hold a vote from June 9-11 to determine whether to redo elections for two vice chair positions currently held by David Hogg and state Representative Malcolm Kenyatta. This decision follows a procedural complaint alleging that the DNC did not adhere to gender equity rules during the initial elections. Hogg has expressed opposition to the redo, claiming it sends a negative message, while Kenyatta argues that Hogg’s focus on the situation is misdirected. If the vote favors a redo, the election for a new male vice chair will take place from June 12-14, followed by the election for a second vice chair of any gender from june 15-17.
DNC to vote in June on whether to replace David Hogg
The Democratic National Committee will hold a vote in June to determine whether to hold a redo election over a procedural complaint for the two vice chair positions held by David Hogg and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta.
The vote, which will be held from June 9-11, comes as DNC leadership has been seeking to oust Hogg, who has clashed with party leadership over his plans to back challengers to Democratic incumbent candidates.
In February, a complaint was filed accusing the DNC of failing to meet its gender equity rules when Hogg and Kenyatta were elected for their positions.
Hogg has voiced his objection to the redo election.
“If we’re to redo this election, it truly just sends a horrible message that we really do not want out there at this moment,” Hogg said. “That’s why I believe that it should not go forward.”
Meanwhile, Kenyatta has complained on X that Hogg is making this redo election about him.
DAVID HOGG EASES UP ON AGE-RELATED CONCERNS ABOUT DEMOCRATIC INCUMBENTS
“This story is complex and I’m frustrated — but it’s not about [Hogg]. Even though he clearly wants it to be,” Kenyatta posted.
If the vote passes, the election for a new male vice chairman will be held from June 12-14, and the vote for a second vice chair of any gender will be held from June 15-17.
