Trump trusts White House doctors after Biden’s cancer: Leavitt

In a recent press briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt conveyed president Donald Trump’s confidence in his healthcare team, especially following former President Joe Biden’s recent cancer diagnosis. Leavitt emphasized that Trump feels assured about the quality of care provided by the White House Medical Unit, describing the physicians, notably at Walter Reed Medical Center,as remarkable. She noted Trump’s physical examination results as “perfect,” asserting his good health and endurance, especially during a recent trip to the Middle East.

Biden announced that he has prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones, identified after a nodule was discovered following urinary complaints. Despite the aggressive nature of the disease, a spokesperson mentioned it remains hormone-sensitive, suggesting it can be effectively managed. Following this announcement, scrutiny has arisen regarding whether Biden’s physician had adequately checked for cancer during his presidency, with questions about O’Connor’s past evaluations of Biden’s health.

When asked if Trump had undergone cancer screenings, Leavitt indicated that he had, while deferring to Trump regarding any further inquiries into Biden’s healthcare evaluations. Trump’s initial reactions included extending warm wishes to Biden and his family following the diagnosis.

Trump has confidence in doctors after Biden cancer diagnosis: White House

President Donald Trump has confidence in his healthcare team amid concerns about the White House Medical Unit after former President Joe Biden‘s cancer diagnosis.

“Not as far as President Trump is concerned,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday when asked whether the president was “worried” about the quality of his healthcare. “The White House physician we have here is phenomenal, and the team of physicians that take care of the president, particularly at Walter Reed Medical Center, are great.”

Leavitt described Trump’s results from his physical last month as “perfect,” adding the president is “in very good shape.”

“I think those of you who traveled to the Middle East with us last week can attest to the president’s endurance,” she said. “He’s in great health, and he trusts his physicians.”

Biden announced on Sunday that he had prostate cancer that had metastasized to the bones, which was discovered last week after a “small nodule” was found on the former president’s prostate following a complaint about urinary symptoms.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” a Biden spokesman told the Washington Examiner.

Since the announcement, Biden’s White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, has come under scrutiny regarding whether he had checked the former president for cancer. O’Connor, Biden’s personal physician for years, reportedly had concerns about the former president’s health but repeatedly declared him “fit for duty” during his administration, according to the forthcoming book, Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.

Leavitt was asked on Monday whether Trump had undergone a cancer screening, saying he had, “to the best of my understanding.” She also deferred to the president on whether O’Connor should be investigated.

“I’ll let the president speak on that,” she said. “I spoke to the president again about the former president’s health diagnosis last night, and he wanted to extend his warmest wishes to the former president and his family. But as for any further action, I’ll let the president speak on that.”
