This marks the largest monthly increase for any demographic surveyed and indicates a shift in support dynamics,as millennials now represent a significant portion of the electorate.The boost in approval comes amidst Trump’s negotiations of new trade deals and is contrasted against earlier declines in support due to controversial policies like global tariffs and immigration reforms. The poll suggests that while Democrats are struggling to maintain millennial support, Trump has made substantial inroads with this demographic, as well as others traditionally leaning Democratic, such as the black community and working-class voters. Conducted among 1,786 adults, the poll carries a margin of error of ±3.3 percentage points.

President Donald Trump’s popularity with millennials surged this month, according to a new poll.
A YouGov/Economist survey revealed that support for the president from voters aged 30-44 jumped by 10 percentage points between April and May.
Of those surveyed, 48% said they had a favorable view of Trump this month, up from his 38% in April.
That surge marked the biggest one-month increase for any demographic surveyed in the poll, and it comes as millennials represent the largest bloc of the electorate.
Support for Trump had waned in previous surveys this spring as the country experienced the impacts of his “America First” implementations, including sweeping global tariffs, controversial deportations, and the overhaul of the federal bureaucracy through the Department of Government Efficiency. The president’s approval ratings on immigration and the economy slipped amid the upheaval, according to polls.
The renewed surge comes as Trump has negotiated several new trade deals resolving tariff disputes, including with China and the United Kingdom. The poll additionally reinforces data showing that Trump made steep inroads with young voters during the 2024 election.
In 2024, the president also saw sharp gains in support from other demographics that traditionally lean Democratic, including the black community and working-class voters.
Democrats continue to struggle to capture the support of millennials, whose support for the Left has drastically declined in recent years.

The YouGov/Economist poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points. It was conducted between Friday and Monday among 1,786 adults.
