O’donnell’s comments are part of a feud that dates back to 2006 and have evolved over the years, including Trump’s jabs at her during debates. The discourse reflects ongoing tensions between the two, with Trump even mocking O’Donnell’s move to Ireland in a recent meeting.

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell continued her yearslong feud with President Donald Trump over the weekend, suggesting that Trump is in “cognitive decline.”
The former co-host of The View recently left the United States for Ireland, claiming that she did so after reading the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 and feeling an urge to leave the country. Since moving, she said she’s been having “a great time,” but added that she laments the current events happening in the U.S., a dig at Trump’s leadership.
“And when are people going to start to realize how much he is in a cognitive decline?” O’Donnell asked in a TikTok video. “How he can’t form coherent thoughts or sentences? He had a speech the other day and he couldn’t say the word ‘anonymous.’ … Something is very off with him.”
O’Donnell then pointed to the 25th Amendment, arguing that this is when people can say “our president is not with enough anymore.” The 25th Amendment allows the vice president to assume the role of president if the sitting president is unwilling or unable to state that he is incapacitated, with O’Donnell questioning, “Aren’t we there?”
The 25th Amendment gained newfound attention in 2024 after the first presidential debate, in which multiple lawmakers called for its invocation after then-President Joe Biden’s performance raised concerns over his ability to perform as president. While Biden did not step down from the presidency, he did withdraw his reelection bid, endorsing then-Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him.
O’Donnell’s call to use the 25th Amendment on Trump follows a lengthy rivalry between her and the current president. Their feud started back in 2006 when he would not fire Miss USA Tara Conner. O’Donnell was co-hosting The View at the time, and criticized the businessman’s decision, comparing him to a “snake-oil salesman on Little House on the Prairie.” Her remarks prompted Trump to call her “a real loser” and issue threats to sue.

Trump was asked by then-Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly during the debate about how he had referred to women as “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,” to which Trump interjected, “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” drawing laughter from the debate attendees.
Trump’s most recent dig at O’Donnell occurred in March when the president met with Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin. Trump was asked about O’Donnell’s move to Ireland, after which he asked Martin if he knew who the comedian was. The Irish prime minister shrugged, to which Trump joked that he was “better off not knowing.”
