DeSantis supports Texas’ border actions amid Biden’s shortcomings

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Defends Texas’ Bold Move at the Border

In a recent ⁣interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ‌passionately defended the state‍ of Texas for taking matters into their own hands ‍regarding⁢ border ⁤control. DeSantis expressed his support for⁣ states having the power to enforce immigration laws, especially in light of the Biden administration’s failed policies.

“The federal government down there ⁣has frustrated Texas’ ‌attempt to try to get people not to come across the border. And I think they ‌will say that was on the ⁢Mexico side, and maybe the⁤ facts will come‌ out and that will be clear ⁣one way or another. Obviously, it’s an⁣ unfortunate thing,” DeSantis⁣ explained. “But⁣ I think what Texas is trying to do is set a standard⁤ so that people know that ⁣they’re going to be ⁣turned away, rather than let in. Under the Biden administration, they let ⁤them in, they give them a paper, and release them to the interior ⁤of the country. That’s not⁣ a deterrent from being able to⁤ come.”

DeSantis emphasized the importance ⁤of creating a strong deterrent for illegal immigration. He argued that ‌if potential migrants know they won’t be able to gain‌ entry, they would be less likely to pay smugglers and risk dangerous ⁢journeys. He called for the federal government to ⁤provide more support to Texas in order to effectively stop the influx of illegal‌ immigrants.

“If people know that they’re not going to be able ‍to get‍ in, then that’s a deterrent for people trying to come,” DeSantis concluded. ⁤”Why would you want to pay a smuggler, a coyote $5,000 when you’re just not‍ going to be able to ⁤gain⁣ entry ‍in the first ⁣place? So I’d like to see the federal government do more to help Texas to stop⁤ the influx. And I think that⁣ would be better for everybody. And, honestly, it would be safer for a⁣ lot of the people ‌that are coming, because they’re ⁤going through things in Mexico ⁤with the cartels that are⁣ not‍ good. And some of these people are being treated very poorly.”

Why does Governor DeSantis argue that states⁣ have the right to enforce immigration laws

Trated the states in trying to help secure the border,” DeSantis said. “And so, I think when ⁢Texas is stepping up, that’s what they are trying to fill a void that’s⁣ been created by the federal government.”

DeSantis⁤ praised Texas Governor⁣ Greg Abbott for his proactive approach in addressing the border crisis and emphasized⁣ the need for states to take action when the federal government falls short. He⁢ argued that the Biden administration’s lax approach to‌ border security⁣ has‌ resulted in a surge of illegal immigration,⁢ posing ‍significant challenges to states along ⁢the border.

“The Biden administration has turned their back‍ on the rule of law when it comes to immigration,” ‍DeSantis stated. “And that has harmed Florida and other states, and it’s harmed the people who are trying to ⁣come legally, who are waiting their turn and following the rules.”

DeSantis highlighted the detrimental impact of illegal immigration on public safety and the economy. He⁣ cited instances of criminal activity committed by illegal immigrants and emphasized the strain it places on resources such as education and healthcare. He also expressed concern about the potential spread of COVID-19 through uncontrolled migration.

“We have‌ a right to require anyone who ‍comes into our⁢ state to follow the law,” DeSantis argued. ⁣”We have ⁣a right to know who’s coming here, what ‍they’re doing, and are they potentially bringing COVID or other diseases to our state?”

DeSantis ⁢further criticized the Biden administration for attempting to⁢ curtail state-level efforts to enforce immigration laws. He took a firm stance against any federal interference ⁢in this regard and vowed to support Texas and other states in their endeavors to secure their⁤ borders.

“We will support ⁢them,”⁤ DeSantis pledged. “If the federal⁢ government⁤ is either unwilling or unable to do their job, Florida and other states are going to step up.”

The Florida Governor’s fervent‍ defense of ⁣Texas highlights the growing frustration among conservative leaders‍ over the Biden administration’s handling of⁤ the‍ border ‍crisis. While immigration ‌has long been a contentious‌ issue, the current situation has exacerbated concerns about national security and the rule of law.

DeSantis’ support for⁢ states taking control of ⁣their own borders resonates with many conservatives who believe in the importance of protecting ⁤American citizens and upholding the sovereignty of individual states. As illegal ⁤immigration‌ continues to be a pressing issue,‍ it is likely that more states⁢ will follow Texas’ ‍lead⁢ in implementing their own border control measures.

Overall, Governor Ron DeSantis’ unwavering support for Texas’ bold move at⁢ the border underscores the need for states to exercise their authority ‍in enforcing immigration laws when the⁤ federal government fails to do so. As the⁢ border crisis persists, it remains to be seen how states will assert their autonomy and protect their citizens from ⁢the ⁣repercussions‌ of unchecked illegal immigration.
