Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has taken a bold step in demanding the preservation of crucial evidence following a pro-Palestine protest that disrupted the Cannon House office building. In a letter to the chief of Capitol Police, Greene called for the preservation of video surveillance footage, police reports, and more from all House office buildings on October 18, 2023.
“By launching an insurrection in the Capitol complex, these actors caused elevators to be shut down, staircases and hallways to be blocked, exits to be made inaccessible, and official legislative business to be obstructed, putting Members of Congress, their staffs, and Capitol visitors at risk,” Greene wrote.
Greene (R-Ga.) called on the Committee on House Administration to investigate and to prosecute the people who stormed the Capitol “to the fullest extent of the law.”
Greene also took aim at Democrat Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), asserting Tlaib “organized an insurrection.” Greene also called her the “Hamas Caucus Leader.”
The Georgia Congresswoman is not stopping there. She plans to introduce a measure to censure Tlaib following the events of October 18th.
The Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and IfNotNow organized the protest, with 10,000 protestors outside the Capitol and 500 making their way inside.
The Anti-Defamation League describes the JVP as a radical anti-Israel and anti-Zionist activist group that advocates for the boycott of Israel and the eradication of Zionism. They do not represent the mainstream Jewish community.

Greene’s letter comes in response to the events of October 18, 2023, when a group of pro-Palestine protestors disrupted the Cannon House office building, causing chaos and obstructing legislative business. According to Greene, these actions put not only Members of Congress and their staffs at risk but also jeopardized the safety of Capitol visitors.
In her letter, Greene formally requested that the United States Capitol Police preserve all video surveillance footage, photographic evidence, police reports, and arrest records from all House Office Buildings on that day. The preservation of this evidence is crucial to fully understanding the events that unfolded and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Additionally, Greene called on the Committee on House Administration to launch a thorough investigation into the incident and to prosecute the individuals involved. This investigation will help shed light on the motivations and actions of the protestors and provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of their actions.
Furthermore, Greene directed specific criticism towards Representative Rashida Tlaib, accusing her of organizing an insurrection and labeling her the leader of the “Hamas Caucus.” These accusations reflect Greene’s strong and unwavering stance against Tlaib and her political viewpoints.
It remains to be seen how the Committee on House Administration will respond to Greene’s demands and whether any further action will be taken to address these allegations. Nevertheless, Greene’s call for the preservation of evidence and a thorough investigation highlights the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions and ensuring the safety and security of the Capitol and its occupants.
As this situation develops, it is crucial to prioritize a fair and unbiased investigation in order to maintain the integrity of the democratic process and uphold the principles of justice and accountability.
