Sidney Powell’s team criticizes Fani Willis’ practices in bid to dismiss racketeering case.
Former Trump Attorney Sidney Powell Slams Fulton County District Attorney in Election Racketeering Case
In a recent filing, former Trump attorney Sidney Powell criticized the “troubling practices” of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, as she requested the dismissal of her Georgia election racketeering case. Powell, who was accused of conspiring to commit election fraud in Coffee County after the 2020 election, argues that the forensic scan of the voting machines she allegedly planned to breach was authorized by local authorities, thus warranting the dismissal of the case.

“As the State well knows, Coffee County officials authorized SullivanStricklerLLC to image the voting systems in the county on January 7, 2021. Both the Election Supervisor for the county and the Board authorized the review. In fact, the Election Supervisor sent an ‘invitation’ to another lawyer (who was not working with Ms. Powell) to have the forensic imaging done,” the brief continued. “This means that no data was stolen, there was no fraud, and nothing was done without authorization.”
According to Powell’s lawyers, the state’s case relies on the assumption that the forensic collection was conducted without authorization, which they argue is not the case.
No Involvement in Accessing Coffee County Machines
“Ms. Powell’s counsel also believes there are text messages and other documents, including grand jury testimony by Paul Maggio of SullivanStricklerLLC, that not only show authority was given but also demonstrate that Ms. Powell did not agree with anyone to access the Coffee County machines,” the filing read. “She was simply not involved in arranging that transaction.”
Powell vehemently denies any involvement in attempts to access the machines in Coffee County.
Request for Written Response
The filing also criticized the district attorney’s practice of not filing written responses and requested the court to compel her to do so.
“Counsel is aware of the troubling practice of the District Attorney’s office not to file written responses,” it read. “Given the importance and seriousness of the issues raised here, Ms. Powell requests that the Court order the State to file a written response.”
Powell, along with 19 co-defendants, including former President Donald Trump, is accused by Willis of conspiring to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
